Policy on Submissions from Editors and Editorial Board Members
The Annals of the College of Medicine Mosul welcomes submissions from its Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and members of the Editorial Board. To maintain the highest standards of transparency, the journal follows these principles when handling such manuscripts:
- Editorial Independence
- Editors who are authors of a submitted manuscript will have no involvement in the editorial handling, peer review, or decision-making process for their own work.
- Independent Handling Editor
- The manuscript will be assigned to an independent handling editor, usually a senior editorial board member without conflicts of interest.
- For submissions by the Editor-in-Chief, the process will be overseen by an independent editor or a guest editor appointed by the publisher or editorial board.
- Peer Review
- All editor-authored submissions will undergo the journal’s standard double-blind peer review process, with at least two independent reviewers.
- Transparency
- A statement of disclosure will be included in the published article, clarifying that the author holds an editorial position and that the review process was managed independently.
- Frequency of Publication
- While editors are permitted to publish in the journal, such submissions are expected to remain occasional in order to avoid any perception of bias or preferential treatment.
- Ethical Standards
- This policy is consistent with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) regarding conflicts of interest and editorial independence.
