Abstract

Thecuneiform texts and particularlythe economic ones are considered as one ofthe most important documents that reflectthe reality ofeveryday life. In fact, among the periods of Mesopotamia the Old Babylonian Period (2006-1595) was characterized by the economic prosperity and the development ofeconomic activity which were reflected in thecuneiform economic textsas an ideal materialto study the economic and social conditionsof that period. The present researchstudies and gives an analysis of fiveunpublishedcuneiform texts which are partofa set of textsin favor ofthe confiscation ofthe IraqiMuseum. Therefore, their location and reference are not known and they never bear historicalversions exceptone text goes back to thereign of King Warad - Sin (1834 - 1823)B.C. ninthdynastykingsof Larsa. This complicated the situation and increasedthe difficulty of determiningthe length of timefor the rest ofthe texts, but theygenerallybelong to theOld BabylonianPeriod (Early Old Babylonian Period)oras it is called(the period ofIsin-Larsa, based onpersonal namescontained therein. These arecommon namesas well asthe way ofwriting thatclearlymarked andexcelledlarge sizesupports the ownership ofthosetextsto the beginnings ofthe Old Babylonian Period.
