Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to place Sidney in perspective in connection with some selected other sonneteers of the Renaissance. The selected poets, Wyatt and Surrey, are predecessors of Sidney, The emphasis will fall on themes and poetic devices. Of these Sidney wrote a sonnet Sequence on love.
