Motives for the interest of the administration of President George H. W. Bush towards Sudan 1989 – 1993
Abstract
There are many reasons that affect the nature of relations between President George Bush Sr. and the Salvation Government in Sudan the most prominent of which is the American interest in Sudans location within Africa as it constitutes a starting point for American policy in Africa. For this reason many American interest groups exert pressure on the American administration and Congress with the aim of imposing policies issuing laws or taking certain positions towards Sudan. Among these reasons are the Second Gulf War the presence of terrorist groups the problem of South Sudan and finally the Sudanese oil wealth whether in South Sudan or the north. Oil still plays a major role in making American policy and for this reason the United States is working to calm the political situation in Sudan so that it can benefit from Sudanese wealth especially oil. The research was divided into an introduction a conclusion and two axes. The first axis dealt with the position of President George Bush Sr.s administration regarding the Salvation Government while the second axis included the motives for President George Bush Sr.s interest in the Salvation Government.
