Endowment plays a role in developing society through the financial support which can be spent on different social aspects. This paper tries to investigate this role. It includes a theoretical aspect tackling the limitation of the subject, aims and concepts of the paper. It also studies the historical development of the system and types of endowment and its management as well as its role in development. Practically, the paper includes a field work on the situation of endowment in the governorate of Nineveh. Finally, some finding and conclusions are presented, similarly, recommendations are given and suggestions are proposed.
