Abstract

The Markets are considered as one of the remarkable aspects of the Islamic and Arab societies in Iraq and other countries. These market played a great role in crystallizing the fiscal, social and economic systems. They played a huge role in the people's life since they are part of the interactive economic process. Arabs were well acquainted with markets even in the preislamic ages. These markets are of many kind, some of them are seasonally opened and some others and opened annually. The current study aims at studying the main markets in Iraq during the Abbasid era and the role of these markets in flourishing the social life at the time.
