Abstract

Strictly speaking, the term "setting" refers to the physical surroundings of a literary work these items are associated with the characters; they shed light on the characters as well as on the events in a fiction, simply because characters cannot be separated from setting --- their effect is mutual, Broadly speaking, setting goes frther than that the physical surroundings but also the tim of action. The background against which we see the characters or the happenings may be specified as morning or evening, spring or fall!IThe clement of time is important in "Araby". In fact, time is important in almost all the stoties of Dubliners. the fumiture, the architecture, the landscape, the climate.
